When the owners of an oceanfront cottage in Nags Head, North Carolina, decided to rebuild from the ground up, they had one key request: their new home should feel as if it had always been there. To achieve this, we embraced period-inspired millwork, high-performance textiles, and finishes with a natural patina. The floors were painted a historically inspired shade of blue, and V-groove paneling added to the sense of timeless coastal charm. The furniture was chosen with both comfort and practicality in mind, allowing guests to kick back and relax—sandy feet and all—without hesitation. The layout was thoughtfully reimagined to accommodate the homeowners' modern lifestyle, while preserving the classic, laid-back elegance of a true beach cottage.
